Francis Gor is the brains behind BiAfrik, a bespoke African wear company that merges affordable fashion and the everyday African element. Francis is a class of 2012 alumni who grew up in Kibera with his siblings, after being orphaned early in life.
“Life became more challenging because my older brother had just finished high school and didn’t have money. But he took charge and managed to educate me through high school. I always knew i wanted to pursue an IT course after school, but we just couldn’t afford it. I had to work as a construction worker to make ends meet and to support us. I found out about NairoBits through a friend, and i quickly applied. I loved class so much that i would walk about 30 km a day from my house to school, for a whole 6 months”
“NairoBits gave me the strength to also pursue my passions, so I opened up BiAfrik. The entrepreneurship and life skills i picked up in class have helped me to scale my business. People can access my designs through my social media, which i know how to effectively run. My dream is to expand my company globally and compete with brands such as Vivo”
